About the Adopt A Cat, Inc. Cats & Kittens
Our mission is to provide rehabilitation/shelter/sanctuary for homeless felines until safe, caring and permanent homes are found. Adopt A Cat, Inc. maintains a 501c3 NO KILL policy. We also work to lessen the problem of pet overpopulation by spaying/neutering its felines, by educating the public about the importance of sterilizing companion animals and by providing information on low cost spay/neuter programs.  All of our cats are neutered/spayed, FeLV/FIV Tested, Vaccinated and have received whatever medications are necessary to place them in a loving home. We have many breeds/mixes of all sorts of colors and fur types; from Calico, Tortoiseshell, Bombay, Maine Coon,Manx, Persian, many types of Siamese, Bangle Mixes, Tuxedos and an array of wonderful tabbies! We even have special needs kitties that would normally be put down at other shelters just for not being perfect. Some of those kitties are blind, partially blind, deaf, mute, deformed, amputees, have allergies or seizures that never go away, arthritis and some are even FeLV/FIV positive.  Many of these special needs cats were rescued from bad situations and kill shelters. They were lucky to find a safe place here at AAC but they deserve a so much more!  I hope one day every kitty, special needs or not, will find their forever home and be lavished with love and endless kitty toys to play with!
Special Needs Senior Kitty Rescued then Adopted 7 Years Later!
One of our special needs kitty just got adopted after 7 years of living at the Sanctuary!  She had been rescued at about the age of 3 from living as a stray in an apartment complex.  She was an unaltered female that had several litters by the time she came into our care. One day this sweet kitty was kicked in the face by a mean man who lived in that apartment complex.  He kicked her in the face so hard that she lost teeth, has sinus problems, has vocal problems, her tongue was split and healed it incorrectly and he detached her retina in her left eye so she can't see out of it. On top of all that she was still taking care of kittens AND tested positive for FIV.  This poor kitty had such a hard life at such a young age but she is happy now! She sat at Adopt A Cat, Inc's Shelter for 7 years, making her 10 years old now, till the right volunteer came along and fell in love with her silent-strained meows, her sweet pleas for attention and astonishingly loud purrs. This is the sweetest kitty I have EVER had the pleasure of meeting!  If it were not for No Kill Shelters like Adopt A Cat, Inc., Little Miss Amah wouldn't have been the happy kitty she is today!
