    Description

    Crocheted Potholder :
    Quoting the pattern description, because it is just so fun .... " The crocheted potholder is really a giant strawberry in
    appearance - it's 7 ½ inches long and 7 inches wide. The stem is 2 ½ inches long and the leaves are crocheted separately and then attached to the bursting red berry. It's as practical as it is good looking as its thick and sturdy - you can slip in a layer of outing flannel or heavy unbleached muslin between the two sides - making it heavy enough to handle the hottest pots without burning your hand. This makes a grand present for the new bride - a "strawberries and cream" gift: And for your church bazaars and parties at which you raise money for various war relief agencies, the big strawberry will be an instant success."
    This is a Mail Order pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs. This pattern was marketed as Anne Cabot 5333 in 1945.   The newspaper description:
    Materials:
    1 ball knitting and crochet cotton, red;
    1 ball knitting and crochet cotton, green;
    NEEDLE: #3 steel crochet hook.
    This is an original pattern, not a reproduction, that is an extra in my Vintage Knit Crochet Pattern Shop.
