    Description

Your bid is for SHORELINER, Volume 15, Number 4, 1984, published by the New Haven Railroad Historical & Technical Association, Inc. This publication measures 21.6 by 27.8 cm and contains 40 pages with Editor-Publisher William G. Dulmaine, Jr. The cover photo shows RS-3 No.557 backing an Old Colony local into South Station in the summer of 1956 in a T.J. McNamara photograph. The photo continues around to the rear cover showing the Fort Point draw and an array of New Haven RR headlamps. The inside front cover depicts Mogul No.479 northbound out of Plainville on the Canal Line, circa 1947, and a second photo of an R-1 that served to clear snow off the line from Providence to Willimantic, circa 1946, with both by Kent Cochrane. "WIRE TRAIN", Editorial Comments and Correspondence discusses Canton Jct., Paragon Park, Car No.3701, a request for Modern Era, Please! and an obituary notice for Victor M. Newton. THE PAWTUCKET CENTRAL FALLS STATION by E.J. Ozog tells this definitive story over 12 pages, including 2 maps, 12 photographs and a track layout and main floor plan from the Railway Age Gazette. Sources will help you delve further into this fascinating building history from the era when railroad stations were the nation's true cathedrals. CONSTRUCTING THE COMET by Steve Link are three great photos on 2 pages that would have gone into V13#1 had they been available at the time. The centerfold is a fine and rare color photograph by Stephen R. Payne of Mogul No. 392, circa 1949, apparently at Cedar Hill. CORRECT NOMENCLATURE by John F. Kirkland explores and explodes The AAR Type A and B Myth in regard to ALCO FA's and FB's over nearly 2 pages. The Future of Conrail is discussed at length. ON THE NEW HAVEN .... TODAY fills 6 pages with Amtrak Survival (Hey, this was 30 years ago!); An Old Colony Revival? by C.A. Brown; Metro-Update by Tom Curtin; the NHRHTA Autumn Foliage Special; The Tale of Two bridges with one being Poughkeepsie and the other Derby - Shelton and P&W Traffic and its No. 1701. MY BRIDGE by Jim Minor is a 3 page detailed look at that Derby - Shelton Bridge and 3 fine photos by Jack Swanberg will surely help you get the sorry picture. MODELING THE NEW HAVEN by Wayne Drummond is titled THE NEW HAVEN 1/48" TO A FOOT and features an O Scale RS-11 with a prototype and 4 model photos over 2 pages. HO Scalers, eat your socks! TROLLEY STOP is titled RHODE ISLAND CONNECTIONS and discusses the Sea View Railroad by G. Edward Prentice; the Newport and Wickford Railroad and Steamboat Company by Merle Pierce; and the Narragansett Pier over 5 pages, including 8 photos. This magazine is in unread, new-old-stock condition. Your satisfaction guaranteed. Please see my other eBay auctions for more rare and scarce railroad paper. I provide personal service without silly eBay games like waiting for payment before shipping, mandated payment methods, clumsy communications and charging for return shipping. Please check my feedback and DSR's. Everything I sell is POSTPAID USA, so the winning bid is what you pay, plus eBay’s state tax if applicable, unless you want special services. I normally ship first day after auction ends IF I have a payment plan & a proper shipping address, or you are a recent previous buyer. Thank you for reading.
