    Description

Your bid is for SHORELINER, Volume 15, Number 3, 1984, published by the New Haven Railroad Historical & Technical Association, Inc. This publication measures 21.6 by 27.8 cm and contains 40 pages with Editor-Publisher William G. Dulmaine, Jr. The cover photo shows CDOT FL-9 No.2019 right out of the paint shop at Chrome Crankshaft in Silvis, Illinois, on 09 September 1984, in a Gary L. Powell photo. The inside front cover depicts J1 No.3022 at Great Hill cut on the Airline (Air Line?), in April 1948, in a Kent Cochrane photograph that would bring a smile to any model railroader looking for train size authenticity. "WIRE TRAIN" is all on one page and includes an Archive Update, a review on New England Alcos in Twilight and a NH FA CAB on the LIRR. TROLLEY STOP by C.A. Brown fills 3 pages with THE NEW HAVEN'S ELECTRIC PROBLEMS, which is a reprint from the Railroad Gazette of 15 January 1904. Charlie adds 3 photos and a system map to enhance your education.  MODELING THE NEW HAVEN by Rolly Osmun features THE NEW HAVEN FL-9 filling 6 pages with 4 figure drawings, a bill of materials, the differences between EDER-5 and EDER-5a's and13 prototype and 4 model photos. I think.... the models are so good that it is sometimes possible to count a model photo as the real thing. REUNION BANQUET 1984 is covered on 2 pages and features former NH President, Frederick "Buck" Dumaine, and 6 fine photos are included. ON THE NEW HAVEN TODAY covers a Metro-Update; SRS No.402; Cape Cod Passenger Service; Amtrak on The Inland Route; Mail Trains Return to the Shoreline route; CDOT Project 2000; and The Boat train Returns on the P&W. All the foregoing on 5 pages on either side of the centerfold, which features the same FL-9 as the front cover, plus it's companion in a 3/4ths view in Silvis in full color on 07 September by GLP. CANTON JUNCTION by E.D. Galvin is Part 7 of this thrilling series and the conclusion of this comprehensive look at just one location on the NYNH&H RR over the decades. We start off with a chronology of events 1950-1977 and move right along over 17 pages, including 36 photos. Column headings are A Second Arch for the Viaduct; New Route 128 Station; Razing of Canton Station; New industrial Spur on Branch; Final New Haven Bankruptcy; Branch Becomes a Dead End; Derailments; Penn Central -- New Owners; New Industry on Rail; New Ownership and Major Changes. And the story goes on as Amtrak bowed out as MBTA commuter rail operator on 30 June 2003 and the catenary went up. The rear cover shows F-5 No. 164, former CNE No. 515, between Winsted and Torrington in April 1948 in a Kent Cochrane photo. This magazine is in unread, nearly as-published, new-old-stock condition. Your satisfaction guaranteed. Please see my other eBay auctions for more rare and scarce railroad paper. I provide personal service without silly eBay games like waiting for payment before shipping, mandated payment methods, clumsy communications and charging for return shipping. Please check my feedback and DSR's. Everything I sell is POSTPAID USA, so the winning bid is what you pay, plus eBay’s state tax if applicable, unless you want special services. I normally ship first day after auction ends IF I have a payment plan & a proper shipping address, or you are a recent previous buyer. Thank you for reading.
