    Description

    In very good condition. This is a Top-Quality CD of 373 Santa Fe Railway train order images, all copied at the Santa Fe Railway depot in Chanute, Kansas. The information sheet in the first picture explains this CD in great detail. This was all secondary trackage, but passenger trains ran on the Third District as late as May 1, 1971 when Amtrak took over. Before the 1980's, this was a very busy terminal for all trains on the Santa Fe through Chanute, including the passenger trains Oil Flyer and The Tulsan.
    The Oil Flyer (Trains 47 and 48) were pulled on March 9, 1968. Trains 211 and 212 (The Tulsan) lasted until Amtrak took over on May 1, 1971. Many orders from these trains are included here, including the last run for Trains 47 and 48. Ages of the orders range from 1944 to 1983. In all 4 directions, train orders were the method of operation, right up until they got rid of all train orders in 1986. There was no CTC in any direction out of Chanute.
    Included is a nice picture we took of the depot back in the late 1990's, after the depot was closed. Thankfully, no graffiti or other vandalism was evident when this picture was taken.
    Also included is a small timetable compendium of 8 Santa Fe employee timetables, covering all directions out of Chanute. These timetables are:
    ATSF Eastern Division employee timetable No. 12  4-30-1961  16 pages
    ATSF Eastern Div. ETT #13  8-26-1962  16 pages;
    ATSF Eastern Div. ETT  #15  10-28-1984  16 pages;
    ATSF Eastern Div. ETT  #17  4-24-1966  15 pages;
    ATSF Eastern Div. ETT  #72A  4-19-1942  17 pages;
    ATSF Eastern Div. ETT  #75  6-2-1946  15 pages;
    ATSF Oklahoma Div. ETT  #79  11-28-1948  18 pages; and
    ATSF Oklahoma Div. ETT  # 88  4-25-1954  18 pages. There are 134 total images of these 8 employee timetables included.
    There are 67 sets of orders to all of the different trains that ran through Chanute. Each one is headed by "CLNC" in the dialog box. I also included 2 single orders, for a couple of odd occurrences that I did not have sets for. Each clearance card heads up the set therefor, and may include register tickets, messages etc., that the crew also received with their orders before moving the train.
    Now to the BONUS item:
    Bonus: Included with this CD will be a minimum of 25 authentic train orders copied at Chanute.
    Many will be issued to the above-mentioned passenger trains. Some of these will be flimsies.  In later years there were a lot of Railroad-issued photo-copied orders, copied at Chanute and many other Santa Fe locations. The Santa Fe started doing this in the mid-1960s.
    The 12 pictures shown are just a sampling of the quantity and variety of trains, engine numbers (a few steam) and other operations unique to trackage surrounding this specific location.
    The orders in this CD shows many operators' names, track conditions, operating procedures, and many meets and flag orders, all consistent with train-order operation. This is some of the best Railroad reading anywhere.
    Very nice items that are obsolete and no longer used by any Railroad.
