Agent's Ticket Stub, Not Good For Passage, Chicago, Indianapolis & Louisvlle Railway First Class to Indianapolis. Measures 1 3/4" by 1 3/4", stamped C. I. & L RY. CO. 1917 at Bainbridge Ind.
Also known as the Chicago Indianapolis and Louisville Railway, The Monon Route criss-crossed Indiana from Chicago to Indianapolis and from Michigan City to New Albany. The Monon disappeared in 1971 when it merged with the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. Well known for its Hoosier Hospitality and those Famous Monon Meals, you could ride the Monon to Purdue in Lafayette, Indiana University in Bloomington, to the big resort hotels in French Lick and West Baden or all the way south to the Kentucky Derby.
