Description
In very good condition. This is a Top-Quality CD of 407 train order images from the Minneapolis & St. Louis Railroad, Iowa Central Railway, and Chicago & North Western System. All of the C&NW locations are former M&StL locations after the C&NW merged the M&StL, which occurred on November 1, 1960. There are many C&NW orders copied on MStL forms, but are CNW orders acct issued after this merger date.Included are 3 station lists showing each location and the number of orders copied at that location.
Also included is a small timetable compendium of employee and public timetables, that cover this territory or close to it. These timetables are:
C&NW Central Division #1 2-1-1970 24 pages;
C&NW M&StL Div. #1 3-5-1961 15 pages;
C&NW Missouri Div. #1 1-1-1969 18 pages;
M&StL system employee timetable #15 12-5-1959 23 pages; and
M&StL system public timetable dated 5-15-1931 8 ages. Total of 88 timetable images, both public and employee.
The M&StL merged into the C&NW on 11-1-1960, so the employee timetable No. 15 may be the last employee timetable issued for M&StL, or very close to it.
As with most Railroad mergers, the succeeding road used up all of the various forms still on hand at each office or tower, from the predecessor road. That is why there are many orders on MStL forms, copied after the merger date as actual C&NW orders.
There are 81 different locations represented here, with at least one train order image from each one. Ages of the orders range from 1887 to 1985. There are 174 train order images from the M&StL, 60 from the Iowa Central, and 173 from the C&NW.
There are 41 different locations represented from the M&StL, 5 from the Iowa Central, and 35 from the C&NW. Miraculously, portions of the M&StL lasted into the 1980s. The C&NW itself, was merged out of existence in 1995.
All of the Iowa Central orders were copied in 1911 or before. The Iowa Central merged into the M&StL some time in 1912. No exact merger date is given in any of the references I have seen.
The 12 pictures shown are just a sampling of the quantity and variety of locations, operators' names, engine numbers (mostly Diesels) and other operations unique to this very historic piece of Railroad.
The orders in this CD shows many track conditions, operating procedures, and all kinds of examples consistent with train-order operation. This is some of the best Railroad reading anywhere.
Very nice items that are obsolete and no longer used by any Railroad.
