    Description

1823 Mexican - American War "Batallon Activo de San Blas"  Mexican Army Banner
This is a REPLICA - the historic original is well guarded at the Chapultepec Castle in Mexico City
HISTORIC ACCURATE -  WITH THE STRANGELY INVERTED NATIONAL COLOURS ( red, white & green, instead of the correct green, white & red order)
Some Background information to this historic Flag:
    The
    San Blas Battalion
was a Mexican infantry unit founded in 1823
    . Under the name
    Batallón Activo de San Blas
, it saw action on several occasions culminating in the Mexican- American War
    .
The battalion participated in the famous Battle of Chapultepec in 1847.
Of the 300 men comprising the battalion, only a few survived the battle.
With the San Blas Battalion annihilated, the Americans pushed on the western and southern wings of the Castle, where they were stopped for some hours by the cadets, even though later the US divisions managed to take the Castle - at the cost of many casualties.
For some reason, the national colour sequence was inverted, maybe by mistake..
    New & clean
It shows the old  1820´s Mexico Coat of Arms and says: "BATTALON ACTIVO DE SAN BLAS.
    Measures ca. 105cm x 55cm
