Description
In very good condition. This is a Top-Quality CD of 532 train order images from the Chicago Great Western Railway. This CD covers the entire CGW system until it was merged out of existence on July 1, 1968. Included are 3 station lists showing each location and the number of images included from that location.Also included is a small timetable compendium of 8 various CGW timetables, both public and employee. They are:
CGW Minnesota Div. #12 5-11-1949 24 pages;
CGW Minnesota Div. #22 5-28-1961 20 pages;
CGW System #1 8-12-1962 24 pages;
CGW System #2 5-19-1963 24 pages;
CGW System #3 10-1-1965 24 pages;
CGW system Public timetable No. 133 3-1-1940 12 pages;
CGW system PTT #150 1-18-1948 12 pages; and
CGW system PTT #151 9-5-1948 12 pages.
The CGW was one of the few roads that actually numbered their public timetables in sequence, exactly like the employee timetables.
There are 152 total timetable pages (images) included in this CD. These timetable pages cover all of this territory, so you can see where each location was, with respect to the others. This was a very strategic Railroad, and was train-order territory up until it merged with the C&NW in 1968. It had very little double track, and almost no CTC.
There is also a separate map of the system included, from an old Official Guide. The map from the Guide is better, in my opinion, than the map issued on the back of the employee timetables. All are included here.
There are 82 different Chicago Great Western train order locations represented here, with at least one train order image from each location. Ages of the orders range from 1909 to June 30, 1968, the last day of the CGW's existence.
The 12 pictures shown are just a sampling of the quantity and variety of locations and operations unique to this long-gone Railroad. A concerted effort has been made, to give the best (some enhanced) images possible. There is a grand total of 688 images included.
The train orders in this CD show many engine numbers, operators' names, track conditions, operating procedures, and all kinds of meets and flag orders, all consistent with train-order operation. This is some of the best Railroad reading anywhere. Please review my other 90-plus train order CD's here on Ebay, and be confident you will get equally top-quality items, from many other Railroads.
Very nice items that are obsolete and no longer used by any Railroad.
