Antiqued Large Black Powder Steer Horn - ALPH1
This auction is for a nice, large antiqued powder horn made from a steer horn. Sizes of horns may vary from 9 1/2" long and 6" around the large end to approximately 11-1/2" long and 7-1/4" around the large end not including the end plugs...most of the horns are on the larger size. The large end is solid and brass nailed with a staple for attaching a shoulder strap. The small end is the end used to pour powder into a measure to shoot a black powder gun. Powder horns are used for putting powder in a black powder gun. They are also used for decoration in a den along with a non-firing gun on a wall for show. This is a fully functional horn and comes with a flat leather shoulder carrying strap and fiddle peg plug in the small end for ease in loading and unloading powder. We have several other powder horns on auction for use in Mountain Man, Powwows, shooting competitions, etc. in our eBay store!
PLEASE NOTE: There are two wires on the ends of the strap. The wire on the large end of the horn needs to be removed to free up the strap. The wire on the small end can either be removed or left where it is.
