    Description

Vintage Chrysler Plymouth Mopar, Mean Mary Jean (Judy Strangis) Life-size Stand Up — Rare 70s Point-of-Purchase sign.
This is a 6-foot tall (perhaps the only surviving), point-of-sale advertising stand up of Chrysler's pitchwoman "Mean Mary Jean" (Judy Strangis). It is an amazing 1970s graphic for an automotive or advertising aficionado to add to their display or collection. Imagine this life-size Mean Mary Jean next to your restored Road Runner or Duster along with your other Chrysler /Plymouth / Mopar collectables! (Or maybe you are simply a fan of Dyna Girl).
This cardboard cutout display item is separated into three individual pieces where it was likely folded initially. The complete unit measures approximately 73" tall assembled end-to-end. Because it is separated into pieces from age, it would need to be mounted in order to stand as a single unit, but there are good ways this could be solved including framing, new backing, etc.
There are two areas that show a bit of wear (see images). The right (facing) elbow has a small area of the image that is torn, and a small piece of the left (facing) hand has separated, but is intact and fixable. Most of the wear along the edges in the images would not show when assembled. It also appears there is some kind of missing cross member that would have been inserted in the bottom to enable the unit to stand. The printing is very detailed and the colors are still vibrant. Overall, the unit is in very good shape.
    About Judy Strangis
    :
From 1974 to 1975, Judy Strangis was a pitchwoman for Chrysler Corporation in the role of "Mean Mary Jean." Wearing a football jersey and short denim hot-pants, she promoted the Plymouth Duster, Plymouth Volare, and Plymouth Road Runner models and often appeared at Chrysler promotions and auto shows around the country.
Strangis' first appearance was in the 1957 movie Dragoon Wells Massacre, when she was seven years old. For the next 27 years, she was regularly cast in small and guest-starring roles in television shows. In 1969, Judy was cast as high school student Helen Loomis in the popular ABC show Room 222. She played this role for four years. In 1976 she was cast as the sidekick superheroine DynaGirl in the Saturday morning TV show Electra Woman and Dyna Girl where she co-starred with Deidre Hall. To date, this is Judy's most famous role and has driven her cult stature amongst Krofft fans.
Other appearances include roles on The Spike Jones Show, The Twilight Zone ("The Bard"), The Mod Squad ("Outside Position"), and Bewitched. She appeared twice as an extra on Batman. In 1984 she guest-starred in an episode of The A-Team "In Plane Sight" and appeared in the series CHiPs episode "Kidnapped".
