    Description

    For auction is a LOT of 4 checks issued by the Southern Railway Company and three subsidiary lines to individuals in settlement of casualty claims. Southern served states in the southeast, from Washington, DC to Jacksonville, Florida and New Orleans, Louisiana. Formed in 1894, it merged with the Norfolk & Western in 1983 to form Norfolk Southern. The Alabama Great Southern was formed in 1877 and formed the main line of the Southern from Chattanooga, Tennessee to Meridian, Mississippi. The Cincinnati, New Orleans &Texas Pacific runs from Cincinnati, Ohio through Kentucky to Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Georgia Southern & Florida served the southern portion of Georgia and northern Florida.

    The checks are in
    very good condition
    . Printed on medium-weight paperstock, they measure appx 8 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches. All writing and markings are from their issuance and processing. There are no rips or tears. All have staple holes in the upper left corner, where additional documentation had been attached.
    A nice item for any railroad check collector.
