1958 NS "original" Norfolk Southern Railway -- LOT of cancelled checks

Description

Prior to the formation of the current-day Norfolk Southern Railway in 1982 by the merger of the Norfolk & Western and the Southern Railway, there was a short-line railroad named Norfolk Southern that served areas from Charlotte, North Carolina to Norfolk, Virginia. Southern Railway acquired the original Norfolk Southern in 1974. Items from the original Norfolk Southern are not often found, but I offer for auction a LOT of 2 draft checks payable to the old Norfolk Southern dated March 21, 1958 and July 23, 1958. The payments are from another railroad, the Pittsburgh & West Virginia Railway, and are for interline freight car per diem expenses.

. The checks measure appx 8 1/2 x 3 1/4 inches and are printed on medium-weight paperstock. Even though they are now some
60+ years old,
both checks is in
excellent condition
. There are no rips or tears, and all writing/markings are from is issuance and use. A minor stain is at the top left of one check (see scans).
