You are bidding on an Original, Dated 1856 Railroad Guide Book..  It is for the Philadelphia, Wilmington & Baltimore Railroad which later became the Philadelphia, Baltimore & Washington Railroad..  The PB&W later became the Pennsylvania Main Line From Philadelphia to Washington, DC..  This Hardcover Guide Book has 65 Illustrations Mostly in the form of engravings of Stations and things en-route..  There are 142 pages in the text with 17 Pages of Advertising in the back, so there is a total of over 159 Pages all together..  There are at least 5 foldout Maps of the major cities and the Railroad itself..  The Illustrations range in size from 1/4 page to Full Page ones..  The cover is hard and cloth bound and the condition is all there with some Minor Soiling from 165 years of handling..  The book measures 7&3/16 by 5 by 3/4 in thick. The pages are all there and in good condition and show there age only with occasional foxing, which is to be expected of any paper of this age..   The pages appear to be heavy rag paper with some of the pages being extra thick which I cannot explain..  I went through every page, one by one..  This is an extremely rare and early RR Guide, but even so, I am starting the Bidding at a fairly low price..
