    Description

This pattern is printed on high quality Bond paper.
This sewing pattern is for the
1812 Habite Veste for French Napoleonic Reenactment Infantry uniforms.  The Habit Veste is a medium length uniform coat. This pattern is sized to go over the soldiers shirt.
The features of the Habit Veste are: to the crease under the buttocks length in the back, waist length front, stand collar, functional plastron (the buttoned part of the front), functioning cuffs, false turnbacks, fake pocket flaps.  Fine details are the plastron, cuffs, collar and shoulder straps made with wool edging. The Habit Veste closes up the front with hidden hooks and eyes. The garment is completely lined, the upper with linen, linen in the sleeves, and the lower half is wool.  There are 2 pockets accessible from the inside.
The patterns includes suggestions on fabrics, and a few button sources.  For the French infantry, the main part of the coat is a very deep blue wool, scarlet wool, and unbleached "white" wool.
This pattern does not have hems, the fabric is left as a raw edge.  If the proper weight of wool is used, it will not fray out. Likewise, the edging is sandwiched between two layers of wool, much easier than using piping inside a seam and them having to turn it to the right side.
This garment is very detail oriented, but don't be discouraged.  The instructions break it down into small steps.
Please be aware that military uniforms of the times had similar styles, so this could be adapted for another nationalities by changing fabric colors and details.
I developed my own patterns for this reenactment hobby to help clothe our troops.  My main resource was plates form "Uniformes de L'armee Francasies, De Fountenoy a Waterloo" by Michael Petard, and the Bardin Regulations.
These patterns are based on American standard chest sizes of 34/36, 38/40, 42/44 and 46/48.
This auction is for the 42/44 inch chest size, 5'8" height.
in European sizing, this is 107-112 cm chest and 170 cm height.
    This pattern is copyrighted.
The pattern is printed on bond paper and has complete instructions with illustrations.
If you purchase more than one pattern, I will gladly combine the shipping.  Let me send you an invoice.  Why pay more than you need to?
